Summer Wedding at Old Down Estate

Emily and James

Emily and James’s June wedding at Old Down Estate was a bright summer celebration full of elegance, personality and laid-back joy. Framed by the sweeping views and manicured grounds of this Gloucestershire estate, their day combined the beauty of a classic country house setting with a relaxed atmosphere that allowed everyone to fully enjoy the experience. From morning preparations to golden-hour portraits and a lively evening on the terrace, this Old Down Estate wedding felt warm, natural and deeply personal.

The day began inside the main house with prep taking place in spacious light-filled rooms that overlook the gardens. The pace was calm and happy, with friends and family drifting through, final details being fixed and that quiet sense that something important was about to begin. Meanwhile guests started to arrive outside with summer light pouring across the lawns and the sound of laughter carrying in through the open windows.

Their ceremony set the tone for everything that followed. Surrounded by people who clearly adore them, Emily and James exchanged vows with a mix of emotion and lightness that made the whole room feel connected. When they walked back up the aisle together the applause, relief and visible happiness told you this was going to be a strong day from start to finish.

Drinks were served outdoors where the June weather did exactly what you hope for at Old Down Estate. Guests spread across the terrace and lawns while taking in the views across the countryside. We used the venue’s gardens and long views for relaxed couple photographs, taking advantage of soft summer light without pulling the couple away for long periods.

The reception carried the same easy energy. The dining room looked incredible with seasonal styling, natural light and a buzz of conversation before speeches landed with the right balance of humour and heart. As evening arrived people moved back outside for fresh air and golden-hour moments on the terrace before heading in again for dancing and late-night celebration.
