A Magical Christmas Wedding

at Quantock Lakes.

Imogen and Toby’s December wedding at Quantock Lakes was pure Christmas magic. The venue, tucked away in the Somerset countryside, came alive with twinkling fairy lights, a towering Christmas tree, and the warm glow of candles reflecting off the lake. It might have been bitterly cold outside, but the atmosphere was full of joy, laughter, and everything that makes a winter wedding so special.

The Setting – A Winter Wonderland at Quantock Lakes

Quantock Lakes is one of those venues that seems made for a Christmas wedding. With its cosy barns, wooden beams, and stunning rural views, it captures that festive feeling without trying too hard. Imogen and Toby embraced the season beautifully. Guests arrived wrapped in scarves and coats, greeted by mulled wine and the smell of pine from the decorated Christmas tree standing proudly in the reception space.

The weather was dry but crisp, with a pale winter sun breaking through the clouds just long enough for us to capture some golden light portraits by the lake. Even with freezing temperatures, the couple braved the chill for some of my favourite moments — those natural, unposed shots that show just how happy they were to be together.

The Details – Festive Colour and Timeless Style

The red bridesmaid dresses brought a bold pop of colour to the wintry setting, perfectly matching the deep greens of the foliage and the soft glow of the fairy lights. Imogen’s bouquet combined seasonal greenery with hints of red and ivory, tying the whole look together in a way that felt both elegant and festive.

Inside, the venue was transformed with candles, fairy lights, and natural textures, creating that balance of warmth and romance that works so well for a Christmas celebration. The speeches were heartfelt, the laughter infectious, and by the evening, everyone was dancing under the twinkling lights as the night drew in over the Quantocks.
