Amy and Joe’s Winter Wedding

at Radnor Rooms, Bristol

Amy and Joe chose to return to Bristol for their winter wedding, celebrating just before Christmas at the Radnor Rooms. With festive decorations already in place across the city and mild, dry weather on their side, the day felt seasonal without being cold or rushed, a perfect balance for a relaxed and meaningful celebration.

Being from Bristol, I had plenty of experience at this venue and in the city itself - See my Bristol page here

A Bristol Wedding with a Personal Story

Although Amy and Joe now live in Australia, Bristol has always been home for Amy. Bringing their wedding back to the city allowed them to celebrate with family and friends in a place full of memories. The Radnor Rooms provided a warm and welcoming setting, ideal for an intimate winter ceremony held indoors.

One of the most personal elements of the day was the ceremony itself, which was led by a close friend who took on celebrant duties. This gave the ceremony a heartfelt and informal feel, filled with stories, laughter and genuine emotion. Their six month old baby was also present throughout the day, adding another layer of meaning and making the celebration truly about family.

Ceremony at Radnor Rooms

The indoor ceremony at Radnor Rooms suited the time of year perfectly. Soft winter light filled the space, and the atmosphere felt calm and connected as guests gathered for the vows. Having the ceremony inside meant everything flowed smoothly, while still allowing time later to step outside for photographs.

Confetti on St Nicholas Street

After the ceremony, guests joined Amy and Joe outside for confetti on St Nicholas Street. With the festive decorations up around Bristol, this moment felt especially joyful. The dry weather made it easy to linger, creating a lively confetti exit with plenty of natural smiles and reactions.

Couples Portraits on Bristol’s Cobbled Streets

Following confetti, we took a relaxed wander through nearby cobbled streets for couples portraits. This part of the day was intentionally unstructured, allowing Amy and Joe to enjoy a quiet moment together while capturing natural, unposed images. The textures of the cobblestones and historic surroundings added character, while the winter light kept everything soft and flattering.

Bristol city centre is ideal for this style of wedding photography, offering varied backdrops within a short walking distance and keeping the experience easy and enjoyable.

Relaxed Group Photos

Group photographs took place back at the Radnor Rooms, with guests seated on sofas rather than standing in formal lines. This approach helped keep everything relaxed and comfortable, especially important with a baby involved and a winter schedule. The result was a set of group images that felt natural, social and true to the atmosphere of the day.

Speeches Full of Laughter

The speeches were a real highlight. Joe, the best man and Amy’s dad all delivered hilarious and memorable moments, filling the room with laughter. These reactions and interactions are always some of the most important parts of the story, and they photographed beautifully, from big laughs to quieter emotional moments.

Festive Atmosphere and Winter Details

With Christmas decorations already up, the day had a subtle festive feel without being over themed. This added warmth and charm to the photographs, especially indoors, and suited a December wedding in Bristol perfectly.

Wedding Photography Delivery

Amy and Joe received their full wedding gallery within four weeks, delivered via a private online gallery. This included all edited images from the day, ready to download, share and print.

“Mike has created some beautiful wedding photos for us that we will cherish forever! He was so lovely on the day & got everything that we wanted. Great communication beforehand, considering we came over from Australia to get married in the UK! Would highly recommend!”
